Building the Future of Orthodox Tea
Construction of the new Orthodox Tea processing facility is currently underway, with the project progressing toward completion. The machinery and equipment are already on site, bringing the vision of a modern Orthodox Tea production facility closer to reality.
Manufacturing is expected to commence as early as 2027, marking an important milestone in Gacharage Tea Factory’s journey toward product diversification and value addition.
Unlike conventional CTC tea manufacturing, Orthodox tea production involves a different approach to processing that allows the character, appearance and distinctive qualities of the tea leaves to be expressed in the finished product.
The new facility will therefore open opportunities for Gacharage to serve a wider range of tea markets and customers seeking distinctive, premium and specialty tea products.

Gacharage Tea Factory is supported by 6,048 farmer owners and green-leaf suppliers from the Central Kenya region, on the slopes of the Aberdare Ranges. Their dedication and commitment to producing quality green leaf provide the foundation upon which our tea is made.
The development of the Orthodox Tea facility represents more than an investment in machinery and infrastructure. It is an investment in value addition, market diversification and the future of our farmers.

Expanding Our Tea Portfolio
Gacharage currently produces a range of Kenyan black tea grades, including BP1, PF1, PD and Dust, serving both bulk and retail markets.
The introduction of Orthodox Tea will complement our existing production and enable us to explore new product formats, specialty markets and customer requirements.
Our vision is to develop teas that respond to changing consumer preferences while maintaining the quality and integrity associated with Kenyan tea.
